Philosophy of Art
Fall 2006
Course Description:
- In this course we examine several central questions in
contemporary philosophy of art through the lens of artistic works and
practice. We investigate what constitutes a work of art, artistic
representation, the nature of aesthetic qualities, and the relevance of
artists' intentions to the evaluation of works of art, with close
attention to visual, performance, literary, and experimental art forms.
